The last death- note (will) of a dying mother

It is not late wake-up!

 By Aster Tesfay

Can you hear my cry see my tears, can you feel my pain, can you understand my wishes?

Want to see my children grow in peace, in harmony and love

Want my children to grow in a secure environment

Want to see my children go to school

Want to see my children succeed in their education have their own life

Want my children to a to have a family of their own bear children to continue the generation

Want to see at last my children have a decent burial in their homeland than in a sea and in an uninhabited land.

It is time to act we have been longing for change, change for a better harmony, justice, and inclusive democratic rule. Even though that dream and hope are not totally thrown over the fence still there is a chance to put it on track. Today thanks to technology information are at the tip of our finger provide we use it to a noble aim and for the betterment of people and a nation at large. Unfortunately, this amazing opportunity is misused by people intentionally or unintentionally for the purpose of the ill-intended purpose. Some are using it for personal fame and fortune others are using it out of emotional feeling without realizing its impact and destructive conclusion.

We have been preached by so-called "intellectuals and progressive" personalities and groups since the sixties particularly after the unexpected coup attempt by General Mengistu Neway/Girmamie Neway and their colleagues. Since then we had thousands of slogans, political proposals, agendas, and different ideological narratives. Some of the narratives ended in bloodshed consuming people who used to be considered as the cream of the society without yielding the desired aim/goal. Today we are at a point where no one is listening to another but to himself even without understanding his own ability leave alone to realize the desire of the people at large who are the pillars of any decision of the future of the nation.

Under the disguise of political personality or a group, they are trying to impose their will upon the people of this great nation who are with proud cultural identity and history. In the long history of the nation, our great grandfathers have made it a nation of diversity full harmony with intermarriage, religion, and a joint understanding of statehood beyond ethnicity. No one in Ethiopia will claim that he/she is pure of this of that ethnicity.

An idea that is emanated based on facts and realities last longer; it is just a fabrication that will be short lived. This is what we have seen in our political activities in the last quarter of centuries. Ones we rally against the crown we landed in a communist rule verbally but unrealistic in practice. We then cross a bloody road to a narrative of democracy on the surfaces but one-man rule behind the curtain. Ones the leading personality of the one-man rule is gone naturally things were in a mess. His ghost has ruled for six years without knowing who is taking control of the government.

Time is the great judge things we were saturated and reached a point where they can not move further. The feared people and organization came to their knee. What follows was hope and then frustration as groups and individuals want to take the law into their own hand. The ones feared politicians went to a to undeclared open hiding singing an old song of their concern to their ethnicity which they erased years back themselves. Everything seems to go upside down to them but still, they pretending to have the wisdom and ability and are preaching their resurrection is right there. The lies and propaganda are still aired, by all means, TV, Radio and social media. As always false heroism, democracy and the rule of law are preached which they have never practiced it while they were at the top power crown.

This former self-declared knowing all and their lackeys are fabricating stories that they ones themselves ignored while they were enriching themselves and their cronies. Today they are trying to manipulate children as young as 12 to be armed and preaching them x is after you be ready to fight and asking them to carry a gun that is heavier than their own weight.

The people Tigray have never regretted for the price they paid in their life and the life of their children in the struggle but in return, they rewarded with injustice, suppression, and disrespect. After all this the TPLF elite is now calling them again or forcing them, manipulating them to sacrifice their grandchildren once again. What a shame!

The Sad thing is the TIGRIAN diaspora who are misinformed or knowingly allying with TPLF elite from their comfortable residence abroad propagating a story they do not know while the poor Tigran peasant is suffering from lack of injustice and forced to migrate to neighboring Amhara areas and the Sudan the TPLF elite are busy day and night circulating fear and terror as if Tigran’s are in danger anywhere, even those who are well established all over the country. Their cronies are fanning this propaganda through the mouth to mouth and in social media. However, except their cronies, the large majority of Tigran's even those living in Tigray itself are considering the elites and their cronies as laughing stock.

Where are we? Dear all

We are today in disbelief as who we are. Our self-declared “activities, politicians” “so-called” foreign educated are telling the poor, unfortunate who had never had a chance to go to school, who does not even have a proper meal a day, proper medication to rally on the streets and fight while their children are enjoying cold coke on ice and hamburger and proper education. They are also cheating innocent diasporas of their ethnicity with false stories and snatching their hard-won penny from their mouth in the name of the struggle for justice and the rule of law. But the truth is the opposite.

You are struggling to make ends meet through painful difficulties. Do not be a victim of people who cry and shade crocodile tears in the name of your people no matter to which ethnicity you belong. You are being cheated by ill-intended personalities and groups and squeezing your hard-won penny for their own well-being. By your money and sweat, they go around and feed you with false propaganda while your mum, dad, and family members are languishing with backward farming system, with no education and medication. It is time to wake up.

Hunger, destitution, illiteracy, displacement, migration have no ethnicity they are problems of all. We Ethiopians have a unique identity which bases on integrated religion, culture, and history. No one in Ethiopia has stood on the sideline in time of aggression by outsiders saying I am of this ethnicity or that ethnicity but fought side by side, shade his blood, sacrifice his life for Ethiopia. This is what our forefathers and grandfathers did. During the ill-fated repeated famine, everyone stood side by side support each other, feed the most vulnerable beyond ethnicity and religion.

In join hands, you can change the life of your people instead of listening to people who are good at words and slogans but far away from reality. With your penny, you can build schools, clinics and other socially beneficiary infrastructures than supporting bullets and to the luxury life of the so-call activists and politicians.

A person who claims to have fought for the people send his child to a school which charges USD 60,000 a year is telling us that he has fought for justice and the rule of law. Can anyone tell me which member of any society/ethnicity can afford to pay this much to send his child to school, can the country’s economy support this? then what is the source? So was the struggle is a commitment to oneself in the name of the people or the meaning of people has a different meaning to them.

If politics is a business, please registered with appropriate authorities and have a license then only then we want to expect anything as you are there for profit, but it should not be at the cost of the innocent children life of the country. As you dream a better life to your children remember the poor lady down there also have dreams of a better life to her children.

Activism and being a politician are not a reward but a will to sacrifice for the good of other people and a country, Activism and being a politician is not a ladder to prosperity and fame it is rather painful goodwill to abandon your personal wishes for the good of all. Those of us who have rewarded with exposure to education, to travel abroad and who have the chance for "education" even though not always for all, we have to think of our families back home, who are not lucky enough to enjoy these "opportunities." Let us think of the small tukul that accommodates five-six members of our family, let us think of a mother who woke up early in the day to take care of us. Let us think of our father who walks miles to plow the land to feed us. Let us think of our brothers who are languishing back home due to the lack of education, medical care, to full fill personal needs.

can you hear my cry see my tears, can you feel my pain, can you understand my wishes?

Want to see my children grow in peace, in harmony and love

Want my children to grow in a secure environment

Want to see my children go to school

Want to see my children succeed in their education have their own life

Want my children to a to have a family of their own bear children to continue the generation

Want to see at last my children have a decent burial in their homeland than in a sea and in an uninhabited land

You are struggling to make ends meet through painful difficulties. Do not be a victim of people who cry and shade crocodile tears in the name of your people no matter to which ethnicity you belong. You are being cheated by ill-intended personalities and groups and squeezing your hard-won penny for their own well-being. With your penny, you can build schools, clinics and other socially beneficiary infrastructures than supporting bullets and to the luxury life of the so-call activists and politicians. You can change the life of your people not only by being a politician but by who you are. It is time to wake up.

It is not late to come to your sense, it is quite easy to say sorry and embark on the right path to save your generation, your country your people. Never come across or heard a society that has achieved prosperity and social dignity by rallies and lies and fabricated stories in the name of history. As a mother like yours "Mr. activist and politician" I want and wish to my child proper education, health care and the right to live in a peaceful and harmonious neighborhood without fear and prejudice as I did and my parents did in this proud nation of ours Ethiopia. You who negate your identity throw away your birthright nationality are you telling me you are here to safeguard the interest of the people and country you have already abandoned. As a mother, I am not trying to push you away from the place of your birth but be conscious and truthful to your self and to the reality and respect those who keep this country in unity and harmony sacrificing their personal comfort and interest.

can you hear my cry see my tears, can you feel my pain, can you understand my wishes?

Want to see my children grow in peace, in harmony and love

Want my children to grow in a secure environment

Want to see my children go to school

Want to see my children succeed in their education have their own life

Want my children to a to have a family of their own bear children to continue the generation

Want to see at last my children to have a decent burial in their homeland than in a sea and in an uninhabited land

As a mother I wish every family to see the successes of their children not the unwarranted sacrifice for power and wealth hungry people who will never mention the sacrifice of the innocent ones they secured their power base. In Tigray, in Amhara, in Oromia, in South and in every corner of the country thousands and thousands vibrant and young intellectuals and young peasants have paid their life in the name of democracy and the rule of law,  However, their parents have languished in poverty many have died cursing the time and the people who snatched their children who could have supported them and others are out in the street begging for survival.

This is not my Ethiopia, my Ethiopia was and is caring, her people harmonious, full of love united beyond religion and ethnicity. Who loves to share whatever they have, who love to care with one another? Cultured, religious, and honest. This Ethiopia I know. It is not late to wake up and hope to carry with me good news to you for- fathers and grandfathers.
